Blockchain has been a business buzzword for two years now. But can all that talk translate into real action in industry? Will it be business as usual, or will blockchain truly transform the enterprise? Does tokenization give new business models and small startups a chance? Speaker Bios:

Ciarán O’Leary is a General Partner at BlueYard Capital, an early stage VC firm focusing on the decentralization of markets, empowerment of individuals and the liberation of data. Amongst others, he has backed companies working on a new decentralised web-stack, such as BigchainDB (IPDB), OB1 (OpenBazaar), Protocol Labs (IPFS, Filecoin) and Userfeeds. Ciarán is based in Berlin and invests across Europe and the U.S.

Kathleen Olstedt has been active in Berlin’s technology ecosystem since 2004. A system thinker at heart, Kathleen has developed a deep interest in the dynamics of complex ecosystems and the power of cooperation within. During her journey, she has worked as a future researcher for the Daimler Technology & Society Research Group, led pilot projects for the Axel Springer SE, managed Investments at IBB Ventures, and coordinated the IoT-European Platforms Initiative, a 50 Mio EUR funded EU-project to enable IoT-Platform adoption. Currently, she supports the Daimler Fleetboard Innovation Hub as Business Development & Cooperation Manager, focusing on venture development in cooperation with startups, corporate partners, investors and public initiatives.

Alexander Koppel is CEO of RIDDLE & CODE, the end to end blockchain interface company. An expert in establishing green field business and accelerate growth, he has over 20 years of industrial experience in a wide range of sectors including media, telecommunications and internet. Previously, he was Chief Commercial Officer at Red Bull Media House, leading the company’s international business and commercial development. He has a Master’s Degree from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and has also studied at the London School of Economics and the University of Illinois. He also teaches at various academic levels.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Katarina Adam is a professor at the HTW Berlin in the Department of Business Administration and Engineering. She lectures regarding Corporate Finance, Accounting and Controlling.

The focus of her research and teaching activities is blockchain technology and its application possibilities in the real world, taking into account its financial aspects. Furthermore, she is co-founder of SIMMST, a startup that offers a blockchain-based reputation platform for tenants and landlords. Before turning to teaching and research, she successfully led her own real estate company in Berlin.
